Abbotsford Tennis Club

Abbotsford Tennis Club's first club house and courts were under the North East Expressway on the banks of the Nahoon River. These were washed away by floods. The Nass sisters, Ginny and Deseré, found an old court and with the help of their father, boyfriends & husbands cleared away the weeds and rubble on existing court 3. They started playing from an old wood and iron club house. Membership started to grow and they had their first A.G.M. in 1976. The club grew from strength to strength. It entered into the East London Tennis Association League. The existing club house was built in 1981 with bar, kitchen and ablution facilities, by the members under the watchful eye of then club chairman, Des Wanckel.
Abbotsford Tennis Club now has five tennis courts (two with floodlights) and an ever growing membership
