Rietondale Tennisklub

Rietondale Tennis Club was established in 1949 with only two clay courts to play on. At the time a small shelter from the sun was erected. The club had fifteen to twenty members when it was established. Two of the founder members are still alive. They are honorary members of the club today. One still visits the club regularly to watch tennis.

The present club house has been renovated four times since it was built and the number of courts has increased to eleven over the years. Since its establishment the club was passionate about the development of junior tennis and to act as feeder for the senior club. The result is that the club has produced a Wimbledon Junior Champion, Gareth Williams. One of the club’s founder members is the Grandmother of Gareth Williams.

“The club has always been in the privileged position of having a coach at the club since its establishment.”

During 2011 the club improved its facilities to the extent that it could establish the Kiewiet Conference & Function Venue with its own Manager.

The club is located in the tree rich and well-maintained municipal park in the suburb of Rietondale. Rietondale Tennis offers social and competitive tennis and always welcomes new members.
